about me

Drumming is the ancient language of our ancestors. I made it my life long quest to master it. Over the past twenty years I have worked with so many wonderful people, some of them known and some of them not so known but all of them very special to me. That's why I choose not to drop names here. Instead I would like to share the love I have expierenced in having such a wonderful life as a musician. I have met people from all walks of life. I have toured Europe, Japan, The Carribean, Central America and The USA. I have worked playing Jazz, R&B, Neo-Soul, Rap, West African, Pop, Haitian and Afro-Cuban music, and the experiences just keep on coming. All praise be to Mother God/Father God and the Spirits. so keep the phone calls coming.
I proudly play Gretsch Drums, Remo Drumheads, VicFirth Sticks and Brushes and Agop Istanbul Cymbals !

Check out this album that I did the drumming for. I'm really proud of this effort and it was a great project to work on. Definately one of my favorites!

album coverGIOVANNI: Essentially Me Neo-soul vocalist Giovanni draws her listeners in with the sheer elegance and sincerity of the refreshingly new sound and organic approach she has to her music.
Buy the CD

Giovanni's CD is now available on itunes, check it out!

Hi Henning: thanks for friending me - I really meant it about your sound -
I've played with big time crashers and small time bongos and it's so lovely to hear all the instruments!! one of my drumming buddies is Damo Suzuki's 'chosen' musician when he's in Britain, but they both compete for loudness. Lovely to hear your sound so penetratingly - good recordings. BTW Stumm in German means 'silent' - you're certainly not that! Happy full moon x M

Hi Henning... thanks for joining the music group... do you mind if I link your home page music player onto the Music Group page... and delete the one that starts playing when the page is opened... I am trying to find a way to have each member with original music have their player linked to the group or a separate page that I might create...

Let me know what you think...

Thanks for being here and getting into it...

Henning,

Hey - I loaned my drums to a friend who has a music studio in his living room and just last night I went over to his house and we recorded a couple of tracks (each instrument recorded independently). I played the keys on one track and the drums on the other. He uses a mackie track recorder hooked up to his mac laptop with an external firewire audio break out box audio controller to get the sound into the computer... Very cool! We had a guitar, bass, drums, and keys going. The second track we had the turntables hooked up for scratching some hip-hop beats into the mix! : )

If I can get an mp3 of the two min tracks I'll post it in a comment...
Here is an mp3 of a midnight fire rap celebrating the full moon in June!

Talk to you soon,

Silas

Henning,
Here is a picture of my drums. I am pretty basic right now - just learning simple rock beats from some you tube tutorials... Its fun and I know the drums are my instrument.
